Dr. Virant is a Seattle native and completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Washington in 1976. He was granted his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1980, and returned to the University of Washington to pursue his pediatric residency and allergy/asthma/immunology fellowship. He currently is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Director of the Allergy/Immunology Training Program at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Virant is Board Certified in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, as well as Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology. He is Chief of the Allergy Division at Seattle Children’s Hospital. At Northwest Asthma & Allergy Center he works primarily in the Seattle office, but also sees patients in Redmond, Renton, and Yakima. Dr. Virant has served as President of the Washington State Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and of the TransPacific Allergy and Immunology Society. He has also served as Chairman of the Education & Research Trust, and of the Sinusitis Committee of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Since 2003, he has been an Executive Board Member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Allergy & Immunology. Dr. Virant is also director of clinical and research laboratories at Northwest Asthma & Allergy Center. Outside of the office, Dr. Virant enjoys basketball and golf, and is an avid Husky and Mariner fan. He sees patients of all ages, and has special interests in sinusitis, asthma and food allergy.
