Clinical Research

The Northwest Asthma & Allergy Center team is dedicated to providing our patients with evidence-based treatments. We have long held a commitment to advancing research at the same time as we offer best practices in clinical care. One of the ways in which we do this is by staying on the cutting edge of research in our field.

Seattle Allergy & Asthma Research Institute

As part of our commitment to quality healthcare, we are deeply involved in clinical research. We are the founders of Associated Scientists to Help Minimize Allergy (“ASTHMA”), a Nonprofit Corporation, which was renamed Seattle Allergy & Asthma Research Institute in 2019. Since 1972, it has conducted more than 500 FDA-approved clinical trials, with a proven commitment to quality and excellence. Northwest Asthma & Allergy Center partners sit on the Board of Seattle Allergy & Asthma Research Institute, and several of the physicians serve as sub-investigators on its research studies.

Through our Institute, we maintain ongoing involvement in research studies for various organizations, including biopharmaceutical companies that want to test experimental medications, devices or treatments for asthma, allergies and other allergic diseases. The Seattle Allergy & Asthma Research Institute’s research also extends to government-sponsored programs including work with the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

With every study, our goal is to advance the understanding of asthma, allergy, and related conditions, in order to continue improving the healthcare insight and solutions for patients, not only in our own clinics – but around the world.
